]]> Qatar has recalled its ambassador to Cairo in protest against Egypt’s air strikes on jihadi bases in Libya.

The Gulf State’s also angered about an official Egyptian accusation that it’s supporting terrorism.

Short of severing diplomatic ties, recalling an ambassador is a country’s most serious demonstration of displeasure.

Qatari state media expresses anger at Egypt’s striking Islamic State bases in Libya in retaliation for the beheading last week of 21 Egyptian Christians by the Islamist militants.

A foreign ministry official in Doha also mentions Egypt’s delegate to the Arab League, Tariq Adel, accused Qatar of supporting terrorism by expressing reservations about the air strikes.

Qatar stresses the need for consultations before any unilateral military action against another Arab League member state.
