The man’s believed to have contracted the lethal haemorrhagic disease in Liberia before he travelled to the US a fortnight ago.

Director of the US Centers For Disease Control Thomas Frieden says the man was not infectious on the aircraft that brought him to the United States.

Doctors are convinced they’ve identified everyone he has come into contact with since arriving.

A small number of US health workers dealing with the Ebola outbreaks, that’s now killed more than 3 000 people, have been moved stateside for treatment.

But the unnamed patient in isolation at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas is the first to have displayed symptoms after arriving in the US.
