No-one has claimed responsibility for this morning’s assassination bid on the Sudanese Prime Minister.

Crowds are chanting support for Abdallah Hamdok at the spot in Khartoum where two vehicles show the damage from the would be killers’ explosives and  bullets .

ends intro

The assassination bid nearly a year after the fall of Omar Al Bashir shows the fragility of Sudan’s transformation to civilian rule.

The attackers struck Abdallah Hamdok convoy as he drove to work.

One security guard was injured.

The economist turned politician said he was unscathed.

The assassination bid would not change the path of change, he tweeted.

It will put additional pressure on the strong wave of the revolution.

Hamdok is a former deputy head of the United Nations  Economic Commission for Africa.
