]]> Ugandan police  have arrested two youth activists campaigning for the US Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

They were carrying placards proclaiming that a vote for Trump is a vote against African dictatorship.

Bigirwa Moses and Allan Kitonsa were arrested in front of the US embassy in Kampala.

Three of their fellow activists ran off and have evaded the police.

Uganda’s Daily Monitor newspaper says  the activists  belong to the Uganda Young Democrats, a group that says it aims to fight dictatorship in their country.

The five demonstrators tried  to access the embassy grounds to campaign for the Republican candidate but were blocked by security.

They have taken up the cudgels for Trump because he has said he will fight dictatorships across the world.

]]> Despite the brave face put on by South Africa’s security authorities, diplomats based in this country are taking seriously the warning of possible terrorist attacks issued by the US embassy at the weekend.

The envoys point out that a similar travel advisory issued by the embassy in Pretoria last September is still in force.

Washington errs on the side of caution when issuing travel advisories or warning to its citizens traveling or living abroad.

The warning on South Africa is second across the globe this month. There were three in May and nine in April.

They deal with a range of potential hazards from climatic conditions to political unrest and terror attacks.

Americans are advised  when the danger has gone.

The warning issued to US travelers last September of violent crime and a terror threat in South Africa still holds.
