An extraordinarily low turnout is undermining the credibility of yesterday’s re-run presidential election in Kenya.

Menacing opposition supporters prevented voting in at least four counties in the west of the country.

In the rest of the country, barely a third of registered voters cast their ballots.

It’s  being  left to the analysts to explain why Kenyans stayed away in droves from their re-run election ordered by their Supreme Court.

Intimidation and fear of violence will play key roles.

Much of the 34% turnout will be attributed, however, to simple voter fatigue….

…and a cynical belief that yesterday’s voting will fail to impress the Supreme Court just as the annulled Agust poll simply did not pass judicial muster.
