Kenya’s military has taken control of the funeral home where the body of former President Daniel Arap Moi was brought after his death yesterday.

Medical specialists have moved in to perform a post mortem on the 95-year-old.

Deputy President William Ruto has delivered a warm tribute to Kenya’s longest-serving president.

“His genuine concern, selflessness, loyalty and sincerity enabled hi to acquire staying power and attract the the support of millions of patriots,” said Ruth.

Daniel Arap Moi’s heritage might be more harshly judged by his opponents whom he treated ruthlessly.

He brought multi-party democracy to Kenya, but his autocratic style – in a famous 1984 address he insisted that the nation should sing his songs – earned him critics at home and abroad.

He will be given a state funeral. His family have yet to agree on a date

President Uhuru Kenyatta social media platform have been suspended following unauthorized access.

This is the second time in a year there’s been suspicious activity on the social media of the Kenyan leader who is the most followed head of government in Africa.

Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita says there has been unauthorized access to the Twitter and Facebook accounts of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

These have been taken down to allow the necessary remedial action to be taken.

Waita says Kenyatta’s action against corruption is evidently making an impact, although he did not elaborate.

Last year sharp-eyed surfers discovered Kenyatta had unfriended his Deputy President William Ruto.

The Presidency in Nairobi put this down to an error.

A televised political debate ahead of next months presidential elections in Kenya took place with a single candidate.

Some of his opponents were excluded because they arrived late. However the major contenders boycotted it because they say they were not properly consulted.

Muthiora Kariara had to put up with commentators struggling to pronounce his name.

But he stood his ground on live television for an hour with five empty podiums around him.

Kariara is running as deputy presidential candidate to independent Japhath Kaluyu.

He took full advantage of the best publicity a minor player could hope for.

Incumbent deputy president William Ruto and Kalonzo Musyoko, who’s standing with Raila Odinga on the National Super Alliance ticket, indicated earlier they would not participate.

Amnesty International says the decision to drop charges of crimes against humanity against Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto and radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang must not derail efforts to ensure justice for victims of the post-election violence in 2007 and 2008.

The  Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court  declared the charges vacated, leaving the door open to re-prosecute the case in the future.

Amnesty International’s Michelle Kagari says the ICC decision could be seen as a major setback by thousands of victims who have waited so long for justice.

She insists this is not the end of the road for the victims.

The accused have not been acquitted, and can be re-prosecuted for these charges either by the ICC or domestically.

Amnesty International welcomes the recognition by Judge Oboe Esoji of the role that witness interference played in the case and calls for all responsible to be held accountable.

Police say the death of 41-year-old Fidel Castro Odinga is being treated as unexplained.

Fidel Castro Odinga had been drinking with his friends on Saturday night.

He was found dead in his bed yesterday morning.

Police say they’re investigating his final movements.

A forensic pathologist has been called in and a post-mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

There’s been a violent protest around Nairobi’s Kibera slum.

Protesters pelted motorists with stones and blocked the roads before being dispersed by police.

The Kenyan military’s killed more than 100 al-Shabab militants linked to a deadly attack on a bus.

Deputy President William Ruto says the armed forces carried out two operations in Somalia, destroying equipment and a camp from which the bus attack was planned.

Al Shabab gunmen pulled non-Muslims passengers from a bus in northern Kenya at the weekend, killing 28 of them.

The terror group’s carried out a series of attacks in Kenya since 2011, the year that country sent troops into Somalia to help battle the Islamist group.

Ruto says the retaliation was swift.

The terrorists did not have time to celebrate their heinous crime.

Ruto says security officials are in full control.

He urges other leaders to co-operate with the government rather than criticise it.

Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta’s put his deputy William Ruto in charge while he’s in The Hague talking about his trial before the International Criminal Court that’s charged him with crimes against humanity.

He says he’s done this to ensure that he appears before the international tribunal in his individual capacity – without putting into question his country’s sovereignty.

It’s general practice for a president to temporarily hand the reins to a deputy while out of the country.

This is the first time Kenya’s using this provision in its constitution.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s charged in the ICC with orchestrating ethnic violence after the disputed election in Kenya seven years ago.

He should hear today when the ICC plans to start the trial.

He’ll also be asked to explain why his government is not giving with the ICC details it needs to conduct a prosecution.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta says he’ll be in the dock this week at the International Criminal Court in The Hague .

The date for Kenyatta’s trial for orchestrating violence after the disputed 2007 election is is to be set at that  on Wednesday.

Kenya’s parliament has heard that deputy president  William Ruto, who also facing charges at the ICC, will be in charge during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s absence.

The Kenyan leader denies charges of organising ethnic massacres that killed more than 1,200 people after the 2007 elections.

A delegation of supporting MPs has indicated they are accompanying him to The Hague.

Kenyatta failed in his bid to appear via television link at this week’s hearing.

The ICC want him in the Hague to explain claims that evidence against him has been withheld and why witnesses for the prosecution have withdrawn from the case.
