]]> An experiemental drug never before tried on humans has been tried to two US aid workers who contracted Ebola in Liberia.

Officials say they are showing an improvement.

At this stage there’s no certainty the improvement to the two Americans can be attributed to the drug ZMapp.

Dr Kent Brantly and his colleague Nancy Writebol have been flown home.

They had to travel separately because the aircraft can only be modified to accommodate one passenger in complete isolation.

Ebola killed nearly 900 people in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria the worst outbreak on record.,

ZMapp, which has thusfar been used only on monkeys.

The World Bank is $200 million in emergency assistance for countries battling to contain the Ebola outbreak.

The virus spreads by contact with infected blood and bodily fluids and the current outbreak is killing between 50% and 60% of people infected.
