Mali clinic goes into lockdown after Ebola deaths

A clinic in Mali’s gone into lockdown as a doctor treating a second Ebola outbreak in that country is suspected of having contracted the deadly virus.

Half of the 30 people quarantined are African UN soldiers being treated for injuries and tuberculosis.

An official at the Pasteur clinic in the Malian capital Bamako says the quarantined doctor has become a suspected case of Ebola because he’s been in contact with the two dead people.

They’re searching for others who had contact with the deceased before going home.

The official says the doctor’s under observation at a separate location near the capital.

The Malian government’s called for calm.

It confirms that a Guinean patient thought to have brought Ebola into Mali and a 25-year-old Malian nurse who treated him have died at the clinic.
