Interviewed on the BBC’s Hardtalk programme, Mothlanthe says the party might have outlived its useful purpose in South Africa.

“The way things are going , the ANC could lose the next election,” he says

This would be good for the party

“The people who there for the largesse would quit, leaving the party to salvage what it can afterwards,” says Motlanthe.

He says political parties are established for specific purpose.

Maybe the ANC has achieved that.
